My Students
My students are the founding members of a brand new broadcast club. They are talented, outgoing, and searching for an outlet for their incredible creativity. Academically, they are as diverse as our high school, taking regular education, honors, and AP classes.
They come together each week to share in their common interest, broadcasting our team's football games.
Our school serves low income (approximately 35% considered economically disadvantaged) minority (73% minority enrollment) students from inner-city Mobile, AL. Our club is open to any student who is interested in learning what it takes to produce a quality high school football broadcast.
My Project
Our school district has provided our school with most of the equipment needed to broadcast our high school football games. The students have cameras and mics to capture all of the action but are currently unable to edit all of that exciting footage. They have the ability to add player photos to the broadcast but lack the ability to edit the picture's background and enhance its overall appearance. A video editing computer will give these talented kids the ability to create something that they and the school can be proud of. Having the ability to edit the video and sound that they capture will enable them to learn new skills and improve the quality of their production.
