Help me give my students Bouncy Bands to help them better focus, increase academic performance, and improve overall student well-being! This will give our class a complete set!
My students are curious and always eager to learn more! They are unique and learn in different ways, but all learn better when movement is integrated throughout learning. My students come from all over the world. Some of my students are very new to the United States and still becoming proficient in English. To build proficiency and develop classroom relationships, we often have classroom discussions enriched by the students' diverse cultures and backgrounds. These discussions help build social skills by encouraging students to listen to and respect different perspectives.
Many (if not all) of my students (ages 6-8) need the ability to get their wiggles out in order to stay focused; therefore, I want to provide more resources for my students so they may learn in a way best suited to meet their needs.
My school doesn't qualify for Title I services, although a percentage of my students qualify for some financial assistance. I teach in a suburban school in Texas. My students are excited learners and are always willing to try something new! Thank you in advance for your consideration of supporting our classroom and my students’ futures!
My Project
Each of my students has unique needs and learn in different ways. In order for them to be successful, these needs must be met. Many (if not all of my students) benefit from movement in the classroom. Research shows when students are able to move throughout the day, they focus better and perform better academically. This is seen when student engagement and success increase when they are presented with hands-on, project-based learning. If allowing my students to get their wiggles out helps them focus better, and, therefore, leads to more success, then I am all for it! Bouncy Bands will help students focus better in every subject: reading, writing, math/financial literacy, science, social studies, etc.
This being said, I would like to provide my students with a resource to keep them moving even while they are seated.
Bouncy Bands do just that! These bands connect to chair or desk legs and allow students to rest their feet on the band. The students can then discreetly bounce their feet up and down allowing for kinesthetic engagement. Research has shown the use of these bands produces a net gain of 35 minutes per day of on-task time per student. Help us be more efficient and productive in the classroom!
