Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach fifty students in each class, five classes, five times a week. Our school has a total of twenty music classes, five upper level bands, three upper level choirs, with upwards of fifty students in each class, totaling over 900 music students who perform throughout the school year.
I have some amazing students who crave to learn about music and perform to their best abilities.
They come early in the mornings and stay late after school to practice their instruments and parts.
It has been an amazing experience for my students and me, but there is a problem. Lack of funding from the Department of Education and our school makes it difficult to maintain our program’s instruments, books, supplies, etc.
My Project
A new baritone saxophone case would be an enormous bright spot for my music program. It would be used daily by my students and would protect our new 1957 Selmer refurbished baritone saxophone from costly dents, scrapes, and damages.
By donating and helping us obtain this new baritone sax case, it would bring happiness to my saxophone sections who have been waiting for this moment for a long time.
Not only would the new baritone sax case protect our 1957 expensive baritone saxophone, but it would improve the morale and motivation of my students to keep playing and loving their instrument.
