My students need a 3-D carving machine to called Carvey from Carvey Inventables. This machine creates 3D images based on our student computer work and eliminates any risk factors in cutting and design!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students come from all over Los Angeles and from a variety of backgrounds. Some who will never want for anything, while others get up at 5:00 a.m. to take an hour and a half bus route to get to our school, because they want the best education possible.
We are 100% Title I, with 100% love and dedication to learning.
Our school has 900 kids from over 900 different walks of life. Some students share a one bedroom apartment with all five of their family members, some live in motels, and a few own or rent a home. Despite any challenges at home, students here come with a purpose for academic achievement, to foster positive relationships everywhere, and to pursue a better future through higher education.
My Project
Next year our school is going to have a STEAM Lab and Makers Space where children have the chance to design, create, engineer, edit, and construct various interdisciplinary projects. For example, students in science will be asked to design prosthetic arms and balsa wood gliders, and measure their trajectory. Other students will be building their versions of the types of transportation for the silk road from China to Europe and test out their projects for durability.
The goal behind having the Carvey in our lab is for students have a tool that incorporates math, graphic design, and engineering in their daily lives.
For many students, they are afraid of technology, or unsure of what it does because they don't have the opportunity to have it immediately in their hands. They will have the chance to explore, design, and develop 3-D projects safely and efficiently. With this production tool, students will have the opportunity to bring their ideas to life.
