Celebrate Black Teachers and Students
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I teach reading to students in first and second grade who are having difficulty mastering the strategies to become effective and thoughtful readers.
I want my students to develop a love for reading and being read to. The books I have selected are all by Mo Willems who has an ability to capture your attention through the characters that reappear in his books. After hearing a story, I want my students to develop their own ideas, add on to their classmates thinking and think beyond what is written on each page.
The collection of books I have selected by Mo Willems will give my students the opportunity to develop and hone their comprehension skills.
By contributing to our library, your help will ensure that my students will be able to extend their learning through the characters they meet and get to know in the stories we read together as a class.
