My students need a set of 35 leveled books and book bins to help fill our classroom library.
I am a new teacher, at a new school and I was handed the keys to my classroom 4 days before school started. There were NO books in the classroom library for students to check out and read independently.
I teach at a wonderful traditional district school in California.
All of my young first graders are bright and inquisitive. Some are just emerging as readers and some are fluent readers, but all are in need of books to read during independent reading time and library center.
Lakeshore has designed a great set of fiction, leveled readers. Each bin will consist of 5 brand-new, well-written books at a particular level. I have requested the first 7 levels (A-G) for first grade. The bins come complete with labels and worksheets to accompany the books. This will help keep our library organized and make it easy for kids to choose a "just right" book.
I strongly believe in fostering independent reading skills at a young age.
But I cannot do this unless I have a wide variety of books for our students to choose from. Please consider donating these great leveled books to our classroom library!
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
