Our school is working hard on morphing our culture into one that is students driven. Gone are the days when students sit idly listening to a teacher speak AT them for 55 minutes. We are looking at ways that help engage our students to use inquiry-based techniques to drive their instruction. We have become facilitators to their learning.
I see 120 students!
They range in ability levels from ELL to College Prep. I have students who are on the course to attend 4-year colleges, 2-year community colleges, and some who are attending technical school to learn a trade.
My Project
Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During class discussions, I hope to utilize the markable top to allow students to have silent discussions. I want to create an environment where students are comfortable and a place where they want to be.
As we have modernized our curriculum, I want the physical space to match that!
The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The high-top tables and high stools will bring a cafe style feel to my room.
I have seen how choice can positively affect my students work and demeanor and hope that the additional options will help us grow even more!
