Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are a creative bunch who love to READ and love SCIENCE! They love science investigations that peak their curiosity. My class is made up of 15 students, but this project is to help our grade level which consists of 45 students.

At my school, we loop with the students for two years, so we're fortunate enough to have a lot of time getting to know out students.

Our students come from all different backgrounds and have a wide range of reading levels.

No matter their reading levels, science brings them all together since its so hands-on! They're fearless when it comes to trying new things and working hard on investigations!

My Project

We are requesting science books and materials to enhance the curriculum! The materials I am requesting will support our science curriculum for second and third grade. We currently only have STC kits for some of our science units. We have to supplement the rest. It would really be great to have the Smithsonian Little Explorers books for our units and other materials to use when teaching the units. They would elevate our science lessons and integrate ELA! They’re a great source that my students would love!
