Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Each member in our band program learns more than notes on their instrument or how to read music. When they sign up for band, they sign up to learn how to be a good citizen. Students work hard, support their school, mentor other students, and give back to their community throughout the year.
My students are taught to accept challenges, find solutions, exceed expectations, and not give up.
They become invested and work together to create an environment much like a family.
My Project
My students are hard workers and focused on excelling. When we aren't rehearsing, you will find students volunteering their time to help others. My school is a Title I school and the majority of our students spend more time at school than at home. Currently, our chairs are cracking where they sit and the legs are starting to bend.
Ensuring students are comfortable and secure is vital in building relationships, increasing engagement, and motivating students.
New chairs made for the band room will be beneficial to students of today and future students. Sitting properly will promote good posture, keep students safe and decrease their fear of dropping their instrument.
These posture chairs are lightweight and can be easily moved to the cafeteria for performances and different areas of the classroom when doing different activities or group work.
