Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
AT AMS Dual Language School, we learn in both English and Spanish. We are located in Manhattan's district 6th in New York City. Our students are artistic, unique and curious about the world around them. Students at AMS are proud of their community and want to learn how to actively contribute to it.
We represent the Student Body Government at AMS Dual Language School.
Our goal as a student government is to help our classmates to have their voices heard and also to ensure that their experience in middle school is positive. Our hope is that students feel comfortable, respected and happy at school every day. Part of this job includes ensuring that students have all the supplies that they need in their classrooms.
My Project
AMS Student government wants to get new headphones for our classmates because it is something that they will use every day. We do an online program called I-Ready once a week to help us improve in math and reading. The headphones that we currently have to use for this program must be shared among 6 different classes due to the fact that most are broken and very uncomfortable. Without headphones, it is very hard to benefit from this program because we need to watch videos to learn now to do the different skills. Getting these headphones would mean a lot to our classmates.
