Help me give my students with getting healthy foods and sodas for the winter break. My students are in need of snacks, water and breakfast food to ensure they are not hungry during the winter break.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As an educator, in a low-income and high poverty school area, my students are faced with challenges in which they have no control over. My school is located in Atlanta, Ga. and it's in a low-income and high-crime neighborhood. Despite the statistics, I believe my children have just as much of a chance as students in suburb areas. This school is a great school, and the students are very eager to learn. The students are not exposed to the normal pleasures that other students are exposed to, basic essentials for daily living at home or even at school. They have great learning potential and deserve to be exposed to just as much as the next child, so they can become just as great or even greater.
My Project
My students will be leaving to go home for the holidays for four weeks and they will need food while on their break. Majority of our students parents reside with other family members and they do not have adequate amount of food for the week. I would like for my students to have sodas and water available to take home. Placing oatmeal, Gatorade, cookies and chips in the care bag will be beneficial for them as well.
I believe showing passion to our students does not end once school ends.
I would like to place a spoon and folk in their bags to ensure they have eat utensils. The first aid kit is needed in class as they as for bandages for cuts and scrapes. I would like to have it available instead of sending them to the nurse for minor inquires. I want to ensure my students are safe and have food to eat while school is out for two weeks for the winter break.
