My Students

My classroom is a strategic math classroom. This means that my students have shown a very specific need in math based on their test scores and so my class serves as an extra help classroom to fill in the gaps on those concepts they may have missed or need more help in. My students are from urban backgrounds and most need help academically and some behaviorally. I have many students who have needs in basic supplies, organization, etc.

My students tend to lack motivation or feel less confident in their math journey and therefore I am aiming to help them feel confident and love math again!

I absolutely love the sense of community that my students seem to share. They truly are like a second family for one another. Many of them have such high levels of potential that I see in them, but they do not see in themselves and I would love to help them see their greatness that I see in them.

My Project

These items would be so amazing for my classroom. First and foremost, I give every student a folder to help them keep organized. They personalize this folder and they keep their notes, warm ups, and work in the folders as part of an organization piece to help them learn that skill. I have many students that are bad at remembering paper and pencils and therefore it would be great to have some pencils to give them when they forget their supplies so they can still be successful! The dry erase markers in various colors help me when I am teaching them concepts such as positive and negative numbers, subtraction with borrowing, etc as the various colors can represent different parts of the problem to help them visualize the process easier.

I plan to use the pocket chart as a calculator holder so that students have an easy way to find their calculators and I can keep track of the class calculators more easily.

It would truly be amazing if you could help me provide these basic supplies in my classroom and I thank you for any donation you find in your heart to give!
