Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am the physical-education instructor at a middle school in the South Bronx. Our middle school is located amidst several housing projects in an area of New York that is considered one of the poorest. Almost all of our students come from government housing, and at least 90 percent of them receive government lunches. While we struggle to provide the students at our school with basic academic needs, it is almost impossible to provide our students with extracurricular activities. One program that we have set up is co-ed intramural softball. This program is incredible because it keeps sixty students off the streets and in a positive and competitive environment. We desperately need more equipment for our league to keep making this program a success. I am asking for funding to purchase twenty softballs, six softball bats, and ten softball gloves. Any help that can be offered would be greatly appreciated by our team.
