Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach 6th grade English Language Arts in a very high needs school district. I strive to incorporate the needs of the various types of learners in my classroom.

I have taught the book "They Cage the Animals at Night" to my classes in the past. They become enthralled in the story and the obstacles the characters face. I feel that this helps my students connect their lives and personal experiences to the reading.

I have asked for 35 copies of the book. This will help my students to enhance their reading skills by following along as I, or a student reads aloud. Currently, I only have one copy. I would like to give the students the opportunity to focus on the story and develop their abilities.

You will make it possible for my students to experience a powerful story. They will also obtain many skills. For example, we will learn inferencing, making predictions and how to visualize.
