My Students
First, let me say that I love my school and I love my students even more. We are not a Title I school, which means that we don't get extra funds from the state or school district to purchase things like technology resources, classroom libraries, etc. Those items are almost always purchased by the teachers because we want our students to continue to excel.
I love teaching 5th grade and the fact that I get to teach around 44 energetic and enthusiastic students each year!
They are so eager to learn and get very excited about high-energy and engaging activities, especially when we are learning about American History. One of my main goals is to allow the students opportunities where they can work together and be part of a team in order to achieve their goals. I teach them to celebrate each other's successes and always show kindness whenever necessary. One of our favorite quotes is "When given the choice between being right and being kind, choose kind."
My Project
These Breakout EDU kits will help my students to become more engaged in everyday lessons. These resources will help students review reading skills and strategies that they've learned, introduce new social studies skills, and reinforce their cooperative team building skills. They will have the opportunity to solve a series of puzzles and riddles in order to open different boxes containing clues.
These kits will help my students to break out of the boring routine and become passionate and excited about learning!
These students are struggling readers, so any chance I have to give them fun and unique ways to learn is a huge benefit.
