My Students

Do you remember your favorite teacher from elementary school who made going to school awesome every single day?

I'm on a quest to continually develop my skills and teaching approach so that my students get this experience in the hopes of developing life-long learners!

My second-grade students are always excited to explore, create, and share what they have learned. When they have the "Aha!" moment, it is always inspiring to hear them share with their peers. It is even more rewarding when the students tell me that they went home to share what he or she has learned with their parents.

My Project

As a second-grade teacher, some of my students are learning to read while others are transitioning to reading-to-learn. With students being at different reading levels and teaching literacy being essential, it is important that I stay up-to-date with teacher training.

The Hello Early Literacy Conference is a professional development conference hosted by Jen Jones, a K-12 reading specialist, who will present strategies and techniques of today's best practices that I will be able to use in the classroom the very next day.

The conference is broken up into 3 main focus areas covering topics like: creating positive best practices for student centered K-2 classrooms, foundational literacy, running records, and much more.

I would like to attend this conference because I want to apply these new strategies into my teaching and give my students the best chance to succeed.
