My students are incredible. Being part of an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB-PYP) school community has helped my students grow into incredibly caring, reflective, and empathetic individuals who want to make the world a better place through inquiry and action. Every day, my students are working on developing their understanding of universal concepts like reflection, perspective, and responsibility.
My school is an incredibly diverse place, and this diversity makes it a unique, vibrant place for students to learn and grow.
Students are from a range of backgrounds. Some come from low socioeconomic backgrounds, while others are living in more financially secure households. About a third of my students are Latino; another third are black or Somali; another third are white. About a third of my students are English language learners (ELLs). Many are considered advanced learners in need of advanced differentiation.
My Project
The variety of items requested in this project will help get our classroom up and running for the upcoming school year. I am hoping for these materials to arrive prior to the classroom set up so the space will be ready for students at the start of the school year.
These materials were selected with student learning and engagement in mind.
The Ticonderoga pencils are a high-quality pencil choice that will be used by students on a daily basis. The straw dispenser will be used to house and distribute fun pencils for student birthdays and other special events!
The magnetic hooks will be used to display all of our anchor charts (charts we've created together with our classroom content) on the front chalkboard, so students can easily go back and review something we've previously learned together. The wicker caddies will be used to store student materials at their tables. The pocket chart will be used for a new student book check out system, which students will be in charge of maintaining.
