My students need a Evi-Paq Laser Trajectory Kit - Green Laser to determine bullet trajectory from a crime scene. We also need a sound bar for our classroom projector.
Our high school in Florida is one of only four schools that offers a Criminal Justice Program. We currently have around three hundred students within the program and it is a four year academy.
Students in the Criminal Justice Program are future leaders within our communities.
They are taught to display honesty, loyalty and integrity within their daily lives and strive to be the leaders of our school.
Our class motto is, "Character is what you do when others are not looking."
My Project
Citizens of the wonderful state of Florida have had to deal with the effects of Hurricane Irma to varying degrees but there is no doubt that, we must continue to train our criminal justice students to become our next generation of crime fighters. 2017 was a year of tragic natural disasters and our school community continues to welcome many students displaced from another major hurricane, Hurricane Maria. Recognizing that many of my students, along with their families, continue to desire a sense of normalcy in the new year, my ultimate hope is to provide the resources and experiences that will help all my students train to be our next generation of crime fighters. My Criminal Justice program is a four year program that is broken down into four different levels. The first level is an introduction to the criminal justice system, level two is about policing and investigation, level three is about forensics, and level four is about security and terrorism. Our level three students are in need of a trajectory laser so they can correctly identify where a bullet entered a body/object from a set location within a crime scene. We are also in dire need of a sound bar for our classroom projector for when we learn via powerpoints. At times, we use videos in our powerpoints but we cannot listen to the videos without the sound bar.
Using science to determine how a crime was committed will help my students to understand how far investigations have come thanks to technology.
