Mrs. Sowden Raynard from Brockton MA is requesting supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a new listening center. I have my own player but the wires are gone on the junction box. I made my own headphone holder, but we need a set of 8 headphones.

We love stories and books on tape. I've invested in quite a few packs over the years from Scholastic. But it is time for a new junction box. The school cannot supply us with them any more and I just cannot afford to purchase one on my own.
I have 27 first graders who love their listening center.
It allows children to reread the story of the week without the assistance of the teacher and frees me up to work with a small group. We are located in the inner city and funding to teachers is not available. We purchase everything for our classrooms on our own.
We will be able to listen to stories on tapes as well as a cd. Children will be able to reread our story of the week while practicing their reading skills along with the story. They will be able to work independently and practice reading skills such as main idea, characters, setting and plot, and write a response to the stories.
My project would make life easier for all of us in the classroom.
Currently I have duct tape holding the junction box in place because of broken wires compromising the integrity of the stories. Many times the children bump the box which moves the wires. I have to leave my direct instruction small group and tend to the center and try to find the connection. Any help is greatly appreciated to restore this center.
