My school is a wonderful and unique place for learning. What makes this place so special are the kids that walk through our doors each day. I teach at a Title I low-income school in Kentucky. Many of my students come from challenging home lives. All of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Over 60% of our students are English Language Learners.
We have students from all over the world including Kenya, Cuba, Tanzania, Thailand, Vietnam, El Salvador, Puerto Rico, and the Congo. These students come with unique backgrounds and experiences to share, but they have to work twice as hard. My students learn English while becoming literate in their own language as well. Despite the many challenges my students face, they come to school excited to learn, so that one day they can lead a successful life.
My Project
I have such a special group of third graders this year who love to learn. I am hoping to get a few materials to make their learning experience even better! My students come from very diverse backgrounds. When my students are creating posters to display their learning, biography projects, or writing projects I want my students to always be proud of who they are; Crayola created multicultural marker sets that will allow students to color with colors that represent them. I am asking for a few multiplication games to help my students master their multiplication facts in an engaging way! I am also asking for individual dry erase boards; my students will use the boards to show their work when solving math problems and so much more.
My students need supplies such as multicultural markers, individual dry erase boards, and multiplication flash card games.
