My Students
The majority of our students are on free and reduced lunches. Many students have parents attending the University of Central Oklahoma and English is their second language. There are students that are new to our country. Others have parents that are currently unemployed or are hindered with health issues. Many are single parent families without additional resources to help fund projects like this.
Our enrollment has increased consistently in the last few years, many of which are non English speakers.
My Project
Due to changes in technology and education, it is becoming evident that more common modes of learning occur through the use of computers and ipads. This requires quality headphones in order for the best possible learning. Many of our students can not afford quality headphones, therefore hindering their academic opportunities and the causing teachers to fund them out of their own personal budget. Being in the the state of Oklahoma, teachers are not compensated financially to provide such tools for all such students.
In addition, many of our students are non-English or limited English speakers, and the headphones provide an additional tool to help in their educational needs.
