This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Established in 1979, our school provides educational and support services for children with hearing or vision loss in the MCP School System. Some of the students have additional challenges that magnify the impact of the vision or hearing loss. Each of the students has special needs and requires extensive technology and assistance to succeed in a school setting.
Students attend classes at one of three locations: the elementary, middle, or high school campus.
In addition, itinerant services are provided throughout our county for students whose disability is not severe enough to require full-time placement at one of the campuses. Services are also provided in several area counties.
My Project
Each one of our students face a different sensory challenge and not one is the same!
This heat press machine will be used to spread love and friendship throughout the school!
We currently have a vinyl cutting machine and need a heat press to help bring our students creations to life on t-shirts, hats, and anything else they can imagine!
The students will create images, words, drawings, and sayings that will help spread kindness throughout the school. This will give our students an outlet to express what it is life for them to live with a sensory impairment. They will be able to wear these items at school and in the community to inform others about themselves. This will hopefully encourage others to learn more about the students sensory loss and then a new community member will be informed! This is such an exciting way to spread the word about others that may be different from you and I, and allowing the students to describe it themselves is wonderful!
The heat press vinyl will be used to make their designs. We will discuss why they feel their drawing or saying will help spread love, compassion, and joy to all who read or see it.
The students will create a design and then we will place it on one of the baseball hats for them to wear around town!
Thank you for helping us spread the word about tolerance, patience, and understanding about others who are different than ourselves!
