My students need fans in their classroom, because there is no A/C and temperatures get up to over 90 degrees in San Diego.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are my inspiration. I teach 3rd grade at a Title I school in Central San Diego. They inspire me to shift my perspective, energy and heart, in a positive direction. Every day when I come into class, I'm met at the door by my bouncy bubbly pre-teen acting girls. They instantly remind me to start fresh. The majority of students start to flood in and they are mostly in good spirits, ready to take on the day per usual. They remind me to stay steady, be thorough, business per usual will give you results. Right before the bell rings, a couple of my always tardy students arrive. Most of the time they are frazzled, sadly inadequately prepared for school. I can tell that they have had a rough morning, possibly a rough night, in most cases a rough life. But they are there. In their seats, books out, and ready to learn. These are the students who inspire me the most.
They remind me that everyone in the world deserves a safe space, empathy, and support.
They inspire me to make a calculated choice to act out of kindness.
My Project
Can you believe it, we have no a/c in our classroom! It's sad, but true. I teach 3rd grade in Central San Diego. We are in an older bungalow that is equipped with only 2 fans at the top of the shingled windows.
Reported heat in our classroom has been as high as 95 degrees.
Students have an extremely hard time concentrating when the conditions are so horrific. They are missing out on valuable learning time. Watching them try their hardest to be respectful and pay attention, while sweat drips down from their 8 year old foreheads, is heart breaking. I'm hoping that I can give them a little bit of relief by have a couple of fans at both corners of the room. Thanks in advance.
