Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are over 92% high poverty and have a high love for learning. Please let my students promote preserving the environment through mathematics and photo essays. My students love using computers to document their learning but because of not enough power for the network, the Internet is very slow or does not work at all sometimes.
My students come from high poverty and most do not have the necessary items such as paper and pencils.
Yet, they love to communicate and tell a good story, as well as helping the environment. One of my favorite assignments is to have students choose a topic regarding the environment, such as global warming or recycling. Students love projects that involve technology. Students have to apply mathematical facts to their photo essays.
My Project
My class is looking to enhance the technological capabilities of our classroom. In order to be able to use technology more fully for learning purposes we are in need of a WiFi hotspot. The WiFi access point will allow me to run multiple computers at one time for writing, testing and to teach crucial keyboarding skills. Also, we do many projects and labs that require Internet research that will be facilitated by the access point in my classroom. Recently, the surrounding area was outfitted with fiber optics, but I have not benefited from it due to inadequate resources in my classroom. With this wireless hotspot, I'll be able to use mobile devices for research, writing, and assessment.
