Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every day, my students arrive in their classroom with amazing abilities, talents, dreams, and a variety of disabilities. Since this is my first year teaching, I've been so honored to learn about their stories and the reasons that they have decided to extend their high school years.

For many, it's to hone their job skills, independence, and personal development.

Throughout the year, my students focus on practicing "you can do it' attitudes, learning new skills, and building a positive community. Our classroom focuses on cooking, cleaning, financial literacy, social-emotional learning, and random independent living tasks like gift wrapping and basic sewing.

Since this classroom's mission is to dream big and support their needs, we are asking for your help.

My Project

This unique project was inspired by a student asking for more cooking equipment. Her desire for more has our whole class looking to level up! Because of her, my students with intellectual disabilities are requesting your help to make these kitchen items come into their classroom as they are so motivated to practice, learn and master simple cooking and baking techniques.

With your generous donation, you will bring these specially selected kitchen tools into their lives and enable more lessons to be taught, skills mastered and independence discovered.

And most importantly, their dream come true.
