My students need a printer/copier and toner to create their books.

I am so excited about this upcoming new school year and can't wait to meet my little inquisitive, curious and full of wonder faces entering my classroom. My goal this year is to develop my students' love of writing by giving them access to different writing genres. I want them to fully immerse themselves in creative and informational writings, and be able to create their own book.
As the Great Nelson Mandela once stated "I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul".
With this in mind, I want my 30 upcoming first graders to feel loved, nurtured, comfortable in their own skin and give them every opportunity to take on their own learning. When entering a new grade, children are often shy, nervous, excited but also show a thirst for learning. They love to be around each other and take great pride in working together. They thrive when they challenge themselves. I feel very fortunate to work with them in a general education classroom. My school encourages the students to succeed and reach for the stars, as well as encouraging the staff to think outside the box and bring creativity to our crafts.
Having a printer/copier in my classroom will allow my students the opportunity of learning how to create and publish their own writing. They will be able to print colorful pictures to add to their writing so their work can stand out, thus giving them a sense of self-accomplishment and confidence. This year, my first graders will write a book about their favorite pet which involves research, thus gathering and printing information; as well as a narrative about themselves.
By donating to this project you will give my students the opportunity to become "published writers".
Children usually enjoy reading a good book, now let's give them a chance to be the author of their story!
