Ms. Morrison from Mattapan MA is requesting instructional technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need headphones to access visual and audio resources online.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
In my grade 7 English Language Arts classroom you will not only find students from the inner city, but also English language learners from Haiti, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and Cape Verde. Despite numerous challenges, my students manage to push forward and demonstrate that they are both insightful and critical thinkers.
My students are spirited and perform at their best when they are both engaged and challenged.
They love to participate in lively debates on varied topics, pose and respond to thought-provoking questions about current events and/or important issues, as well as discuss literature of all genres. Their zest for life and learning is both humbling and inspiring.
With class sizes of up to 30, my students will benefit from each having their own headphones. As we regularly practice our reading and writing skills online, students are limited in accessing the available features that allow them to listen and follow along with a reading selection if they do not have headphones.
The use of headphones is important in my classroom as students are constantly evolving in their use of technology.
Headphones will help minimize the level of distraction, and students will be able to better use the audio and visual resources available to them online. Most importantly, headphones will help in better meeting the needs of my auditory and visual learners.
The ability to read, write, see and hear information will take my students to the next level, and with their new headphones they will do just that.
