My students need headphones for their learning centers. This will help with network mandates and also center activities using iPads.

A typical day in my classroom is pretty fluid for a mixed abilities 2nd and 3rd grade group. Students struggle through literacy and math but in a risk-taking environment. We learn something new every day. This quote is posted on our wall, "They can because they think they can."-Virgil
Like I said, my students are in a room with mixed grade levels.
They are all full of energy and all are willing to learn given the chance. My school is in a network of schools in a large city that is low-socioeconomic and the demographic is predominately African American. My students are fun, full of energy, and always willing to try something new, hence the risk-taking environment. The school that we are all together in is an elementary school that has roughly 400 students. I have lots of different personalities and ability levels in my classroom and that makes my days at my school in our room more interesting and definitely challenging. My kiddos have such a desire for knowledge and a want to do great things and I encourage them to be great and to want those great things for themselves.
In my classroom, the headphones will actually become multi-purpose. I am hoping to get a classroom set so that we don't have to share headphones with other classes like we have been doing. I have purchased headphones but they have gotten broken due to the quality of the materials. Students will use the headphones in listening centers for reading, math, science, and social sciences. Students will also use them on their iPads in specific applications that will help them individually on literacy skills and interventions. Students will use the headphones so that their instruction in their centers is more individualized and a greater learning experience for them.
In my classroom, students are second and third grade.
These students are all at different ability levels and so their instruction that is supplemental would be best implemented with each student if they were able to have that individual experience. Students self-esteem would not be affected if others in the room do not know that they may be a beginning reader. Students will achieve higher scores on formative and benchmark assessments giving them a greater feeling of success and achievement.
