Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a first grade teacher in Chicago's inner city. The biggest goal I set for all of my students is to have them reading by at least March. This is not an easy task. With many different levels of learners in the classroom, it is hard to nurture every child's needs with so little time and only one teacher.
I have a cassette player with headphones that I bought on ebay for the students, but we do not have a lot of books to listen to on tape. The books would be so useful in my listening center. If I had some different leveled books on tape, I could better support my students' needs by allowing them to listen to the books and see and hear the words in action, while I give more individual attention to the students that are struggling. Likewise, the struggling students could listen to the tapes while I nurtured and helped to enhance the gifted students' knowledge.
The students and I would greatly appreciate your help to get some books on tape! The students love to go to the listening center but get bored with reading the same books. We only have about 7 titles. Thanks for your help!!
