My Students

All of my students LOVE learning and LOVE school! They enjoy being outdoors and in the local community as much as possible. They benefit from real-world experiences to help them become successful as they reach adulthood.

I love that my students all get along well and accept one another for their differences.

All of the students have been identified as having special needs. Some have intellectual disabilities. Some have cerebral palsy. Some have down syndrome. Some have vision and orthopedic impairments. They are all so different, and they embrace their differences on a daily basis. The students are learning how to use their resources to become more independent as they age out of special education in the school setting. The students are kind, respectful, humorous, and always have positive attitudes! They always try their best and put forth great effort in their daily living and academic skills.

My Project

Students with autism and other various disabilities can be affected by over-stimulated (or under-stimulated) senses. From taste to touch to hearing, students often struggle to participate and engage in the general education environment due to over-stimulating senses. The use of noise-reduction headphones for my students would allow them to collaborate and participate in activities with their general education peers, in an environment that is comfortable to them. They will use the headphones to attend pep rallies, school-wide events, field trips, and more active classes to help them feel included and involved in the spirit of the school and various classrooms!
