My cross-curricular 5th grade classroom is an exciting place full of inquiries and experiences. Despite coming from a low-income school district and other challenges, my students are eager to learn and explore. As a product of this district, I understand firsthand what it is like to be a student in a low-funded school district. Because our school is in a rural area of Alabama, all the students has been tremendously negatively impacted by Covid-19. However, despite the negative impact the pandemic has had on our district, I believe funding provided by donors as yourself will help alleviate the stress on parents and students.
"An investment in knowledge pays the best interest."- Benjamin FranklinIt is my duty to make sure all my students have the resources they need. I strive to make the classroom a fun, yet meaningful experience.
My students need headphones that are durable and sturdy to wear in the classroom. Headphones with strong cords and that are noise cancelling, help students focus and target their skills that they are working on. Students work differently and by meeting needs of working independently and removing distractions help students focus.
Headphones equals head knowledge.
My at-risk students are currently using a reading program to improve their reading comprehension reading rate, and prepare for the ACAP performance assessment.
The students really enjoy listening to the stories and practicing and recording themselves reading. With the COVID virus, each student needs their own headphones to hear the stories and record themselves reading the stories. By funding this project, students will get the opportunity to improve and practice their reading so they can eventually perform on grade level. It also enables me to give them one on one individualized instruction while cutting down on distractions.
