Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come in every day full of questions, wondering what the day will bring to them! They love learning new things and revisiting old skills until they are able to master them. As their teacher, I love to see that "aha" moment happen within them.

My students have a lot to worry about, and having the necessary supplies should not be something a 5th grader has to worry about.

All students receive free lunch at our school. Seeing my students have the opportunity to be 5th grade learners is something that helps remind them that they can be successful.

My Project

When my students come in, they know all about the latest dance move, the newest YouTube star, and all that fun stuff.

But do they know what else is happening in the world around them?

Scholastic News magazine is filled with lots of great information about current events, some more serious, and some more fun. By using these articles, my students will be learning without realizing it!

Scholastic News magazine will be a great addition to stations during our reading block. It will give students a chance to read about what is going on, reflect in their notebooks about the things they read, and ask questions. Having a subscription for every student will allow them to take the news home with them to share with their families, building both stronger relationships and literacy skills!
