Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students are a diverse group of students. We are a Title I school with free lunches for all students. Most of our students come from low-income families and do not have rich life experiences.
They love coming to school to learn and socialize with their friends.
They truly have a love for learning. In our class, our students will find an appreciation for a variety of online apps to help with learning to read and new math skills. They love experiencing different learning apps for academic content such as Teach Your Monster to Read, Moby Max, and i-Ready. Finding ways to keep strong engagement in the class will maximize their learning experience. However, for the experience to be enjoyable for all, they need new headsets as the ones they have are old and worn out and, for some, they no longer work.
Please consider supporting our 1st grade class as we bring our families and students together in a positive atmosphere for learning new math and reading skills.
My Project
My students will use the headsets during intervention times when they are using tablets for i-Ready for math and reading lessons or using other apps that allow them to learn to read and learn new math skills such as Moby Max and Teach Your Monster to Read.
The headsets in our classroom are old and worn out.
Many no longer work and my students need to have the right atmosphere to concentrate on learning. Twenty tablets with the sound on can be disruptive to our learning environment causing meltdowns for some students. They will also use the headsets while taking end of unit test in reading and mid-module and end of module assessments in math.
