Help me give my students headphones with mics and mice. This will give our students the opportunity to use the adaptive speech-to-text features on our Chromebooks as well as read, record, and listen to stories online.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students in our classrooms are motivated and driven learners. A large majority of our students are learning English as a second or even third language and/or are on an IEP. As English Learners, they are determined to work hard and make connections to their native language. Through our strong classroom community, we strive to use each other's strengths to overcome challenges.
Our classrooms consist of 48 dedicated students.
Of these 48 students, all from low-income households, some have had to overcome family hardships, language barriers, developmental delays, immigration all while being the kindest and most motivated students who are driven to succeed. We learn from them each and every day how to be a better person.
My Project
Our students have been working hard on becoming fluent readers. This project will not only provide our students with the opportunity to hear books read fluently but also allow them to practice reading fluently and hear themselves read. These headsets will be used with a reading program we have at school that gives students the opportunity to read and record text on the Chromebooks. Unfortunately, we have not been able to utilize this feature because we do not have enough headsets. In addition, to successfully using the Chromebooks the students need a mouse to navigate through the lessons. These resources would make using technology more accessible to all 2nd-grade students in our classroom.
Our students need varying opportunities to listen to grade-level texts read fluently to them as well as multiple opportunities to practice reading fluently.
The English language is one of the hardest languages to learn. These resources would give my English learners ways to hear text read to them by authors, peers, and themselves. This will increase their social and academic language. It will also build confidence in their reading skills to be able to hear themselves read. The students will be so excited to be able to listen to themselves read on the computer! The headphones will also allow the students the opportunity to use the speech-to-text feature when writing reports.
These classroom materials will be a great benefit to our students. I look forward to watching our students learn and grow as readers. Thank you!
