Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am the school Library media specialist at a Title I K-8 school. I see K-8 students on a regular weekly basis. Students circulate throughout the library before, during and after school. Students and staff are always entering through the doors eager to exercise their minds with a good book. Our students come from a very low socioeconomic background. Our school is 100% free breakfast and lunch. Even with all of these facts the students love school. They want to learn and come in each day eager to learn and work hard!
My Project
My students are continually given opportunities to develop their research abilities. Our keyboards and mouse get a lot of use with over 400 students cycling through our computer lab a week. The students use the computer lab from testing to research and many other activities we learn through technology.
Currently we have 26 computers in the lab but a few need a new keyboard, headphones and mouse making only 23 computers available.
Without all the computers working students have to double up.
If we were to receive new keyboards, headphones and mice each student would have their own learning station to work at their pace in learning.
As a Teacher, ensuring that students have the appropriate items needed to adequately develop their computer skills is my main focus.
