My students are in a low-income area where 63% of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch. My students are 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students who are in a Business and Computer Science class. The 8th-grade students are taking a high school level course, Introduction to Business and Technology. The students in my classroom come from a variety of backgrounds and stories in their daily lives.
My 8th-grade students are striving to get ahead through the Move on Ready opportunities that are being offered at the middle school level.
We are at the school of a little over 600 students with thirty academic teachers, ten special education teachers, and eight connection teachers. Due to the location of our school, we have a unique setting because we are approximately 15 miles from our Board of Education.
My Project
The requested headphones will be used in various capacities within the classroom. One of the multimedia tools that are used in the classroom is through Everfi which provides both auditory and visual prompts on the screen for the students. Through Everfi our 6th and 7th graders are learnings how to be responsible digital citizens. Our 8th graders are using it to learn about being an entrepreneur and financial literacy.
The headphones will allow our students that are not able to afford headphones the opportunity to listen and capture knowledge through auditory learning.
Also, our 8th-grade students will be using the headphones to create commercials when they are creating commercials for a company they choose to start.
Also, the headphones will be used for our FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) to prepare for competitions that they will be able to compete in next school year.
