My students need a Cassette/CD Player, MP3/Recorder, and a HearAll Assessment Tracker with Anti-Bullying Materials to provide enrichment in our 90 minute reading block.
No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.
- Eleanor Roosevelt
My students are learning to live with this quote in their hearts. We have started our own anti-bully campaign in our classroom: Hear no bully, See no bully, Speak no bully!
My students are bright, caring, and generous at heart, I would love to be able to provide them with the resources they need to be successful young adults in a society that has seen an increase in bullying attacks.
I teach at a high poverty school where enrichment activities are scarce in our classroom due to lack of resources. Since I have introduced Eleanor's quote in our classroom, we strive to keep it close to our hearts. Every Friday, we spend our afternoons digging deep into anti-bullying activities and learning new ways to build forever lasting friendships. We are thrilled in our classroom to have started our "own" anti-bullying campaign, Hear no bully, Seen no bully, Speak no bully! We spent numerous occasions clearly defining what each statement means and learning examples and non-examples of each.
My Project
This is where we need your help! Our school does not have the proper resources to continue to foster our love for learning about character building and bullying materials. We would love to incorporate these vital social skills into our everyday learning. Our idea was to incorporate our anti-bully materials/books into our listening station in our reading centers rotation. The only problem we face is the lack of an up-to-date listening station. Right now our classroom only has a cassette player. We are asking for a cassette/CD combo player, to listen to our bully books on tape. We also are asking for a MP3/recorder, where we can buddy read with a partner using the "Bullying in Schools" book. Also, I am asking for a HearAll system to use during center rotations. This will allow the students to use task cards to act out bully scenarios and record their scenes without me interacting directly with that group.
Your contribution will ensure that each of my students takes a stand against bullying (hear no bully), helps other peers while in bully situations (see no bully), and does not advocate bully behavior by not being a bully (speak no bully).
These materials will help expand our ability to pass on the message that bullying is not okay. The impact of this project will hopefully leave the quote, "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent," embedded in their hearts as they grow.
