Help me give my students Hear Myself Sound Phones, to assist in progressing towards speech independence during the Covid-19 distance learning recess. These devices encourage self-correction by allowing the students to hear themselves as they practice speech skills.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We have come to an end of face to face speech therapy early this school year due to uncontrollable circumstances. My students are beautiful, spirited children. Over 90% of the students at my school eat free and reduced price lunches. These young bright minds want to expand their knowledge and are not afraid to try new things. They are always willing to go far and beyond the requirements! My students are eager to learn and work hard to meet their speech objectives and goals. They are self motivated and are great at self reflecting in order to continue to improve themselves. Through all of their disabilities, they never give up. They are full of love and hope!
Many of my students don't have necessary tools needed for effective therapy nor access to online learning.
Our students are being forced to learn though distant learning techniques. Parents are being forced to pick up where we left off at and can be overwhelmed with lack of materials. Worksheet packets were supplied but only can go so far. Parents are using whatever books, games and toys they may have at home.
My Project
Please help me give my students some learning materials to use at home and to encourage distant learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, students are not able to leave their homes due to the extended quarantine in Louisiana. I would like to supply them with some things they can do during this time, and over the summer.
Right now it is difficult for parents to get out and buy items as well as hard for children with limited fun activities at home.
I would like your help in giving each student a Hear Myself Phone and a couple of books of their own.
My goal is to supply hands-on learning materials that will engage the students in a fun way like those used in speech therapy. I will mail these materials to my student's home.
