My Students

I teach an energetic class of 31 fifth-graders. Our classroom is full of students aiming for success in every aspect of life. We work hard so that we can play hard. We push to be better each day.

My goal is not only to teach the curriculum but also to make sure students leave each day feeling as successful as possible.

I push my students to find what makes them happy and to become more than what they thought they could be.

We try to find ways to make each content area feel more attainable for every student that comes in the room. We also try to find ways each day to make every student feel that they are loved and that they belong. Our motto is "Every Person Belongs," and we affirm that each day with the things that go on inside and outside our classroom.

My Project

Our class just received Chromebooks! There are so many powerful resources out there that I want to give my students access to. Many of our curriculums have an online support resource for our students, but these resources all use sound that is crucial to teaching.

Without headphones, our class is limited to resources that have no sound component or listening with all the speakers on at the same time causing a sensory overload and making it hard to focus.

Currently, we are really limited to what we can do on our computers because when everyone is listening to all the computers at the same time it is really overwhelming for most students.

With headphones, we can use the curriculum and resources the way they were intended. They will really make it possible for our students to gain a deeper understanding of our content and the world around them.
