Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have the pleasure of working with outstanding children. They come to school prepared to learn and try their best every day. I teach in a Title I school with a high population of non-native English speakers. Our school is located in a low-income area with most students receiving free or reduced-price lunch.

My Project
First graders are learning to read and apply comprehensive skills. We will use the requested microphone and green screen to record student understanding of lessons learned. In addition this will help my students develop skills in researching, writing, and public speaking. When students have the opportunity to listen to their understanding they can make corrections and address the pitch and rhythm of their reading. A green screen will allow them to be creative when building layers for movie making.
Students will be more engaged in practicing reading skills, not sounding out words when listening to their podcasts, as well as become better speakers as they see their productions.
They will also learn how to create high-quality audio recordings that will have that "professional" sound and learn to use technology to produce movies about what they write. They can collaborate with peers about what they are listening to or have recorded, giving them vital tools they will need for the future.
As an educator, I am continuously looking for ways to connect with students while providing opportunities to learn and enhance their critical thinking skills through technology. Providing the podcast equipment and green screen will encourage them to flourish, my students will gain the confidence needed to get a higher education, as well as the experience and tools to prepare them for jobs unforeseen.
