Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I currently have a classroom of six little smarties! Myself, along with three hardworking paraprofessionals, like to focus on each student as an individual learner. We get to know each student's strength and what makes them special. We call their strengths their super powers, and every student has their own. That is what makes our classroom a cohesive community.
Though they have some learning disabilities, they work hard to overcome their obstacles.
We use their strengths to aide their growth in areas of struggle. They truly deserve equal opportunities and materials to aide in their learning, just as their typically developing peers do. Every one of my six students will benefit greatly from your donations. I know they appreciate everything donated to our classroom community.
My Project
My students best learn from through Applied Behavior Analysis, also known as ABA. ABA is used widely in different types of business management. When we are teaching a student a desired behavior or response, we often motivate them by asking "what are you working for". Most times its the iPad! When the children use iPads we are finding they are a loud distraction to other students still learning, so would love to be able to provide headphones for a more quiet break. They also do many different types of curriculum on the computers. These programs require the sound to be on. So, again, headphones would be amazing!
We are also finding we are having a hard time find space in our classroom to efficiently store and charge iPads.
We would love the iPad charging station to make sure we are properly taking care of iPads, they are all getting charged in one area, and teaching the students responsibility at the same time.
The charging station and headphones would be put to good use in my classroom. Daily students are motivated to learn by using iPad and getting them for breaks. Headphones would help reduce distractions to other students during learning times on computers and breaks on iPads. The charging station is going to give my students a sense of responsibility by learning how to be organize and properly store expensive materials!
