My Students
I teach in a low income, high poverty, Title I school in an inner urban city. All my students are provided breakfast in the classroom and receive free lunches.
My students are curious, excited, enthusiastic learners who like to use chrome books to research topics, use websites to advance their reading skills, learn how to type, work on group projects, learn math, and play games like Jeopardy and Kahoot!
My students are second language learners who speak a different language at home. They don't have access to computers, devices, or wi-fi.
My Project
My students are working on their reading skills. A part of our program allows students to listen to fluent reading. When all 24 students are on their computers, it is very difficult to hear or focus.
This project helps my students to listen to fluent reading which will improve their fluency, comprehension, and writing.
We don't have headphones or ear buds. Ear buds are not good for young students' ears. They also break easily. That is why I am making a request for headphones that go over their ears and the volume can be adjusted.
Everyone will be able to listen to the stories at their own level without disrupting each other. Headphones are important for everyone to work to their full potential.
