Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our first grade class is full of a myriad of personalities united by their passion and love for learning. Each student provides a unique perspective to our daily lessons, contributing not only to their own learning but to the learning of their peers.

While our students are only beginning their formal education, future teachers, doctors, firefighters, nurses, and lawyers fill the seats in our classroom.

It is our hope that with each lesson of reading and math, our students will gain new knowledge and understanding to carry with them through different aspects of life.

My Project

The use of headphones and computers is a daily activity in my classroom, especially in math. Using the Zearn program for math, students work on the computer independently. Each student is working at their own pace and level. What becomes a problem is the fact that the current headphones are used daily and are falling apart and we need a pencil sharpener.

Although they are trying their best to not break the headphones, the wear and tear of daily use makes them fall apart rather quickly.

By having new headphones and chair back pouches, the students will have the opportunity to have their own headphones in their back pouches to increase their independent learning!
