My first grade students are eager learners who are ready to explore and create and are excited to learn! They are excited about school and love to be able to learn while using their critical thinking skills.
They have grown up in a technologically savvy world and are ready to embrace the changes and challenges that technology brings.
I love how we can incorporate technology into our reading and math daily lessons, not overusing one but combining them all together to give the students the best opportunity while engaging them in learning. When I can combine art and technology I am really on cloud nine, as are my students!
I also love how creative first grade minds are and I want to encourage my students to stay creative and continue to think outside of the box. This year has been a little different as we have had to slow down our teaching to continue to build the skills they were taught in kindergarten but didn't get to fully build because of COVID. I want to be able to give our first grades any and every opportunity to build those foundations needed for the rest of their educational career.
My Project
Many of my students are from low income families and affording good headphones is a hardship. Having headphones in the classroom will enable me to make sure every student has equity for learning in the classroom. In the event we go distance learning, I am able to help provide headphones for those families that need that extra help and support.
Visual learning, auditory learning and tactile learning are all ways I can reach my first graders!
When I can use all 3 it's a winning combination to engage, enrich and teach my learners!
