Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach a class of motivated kindergarten students. My class is an inclusion setting with many diverse learning needs. It is important that my students become diverse readers so they can understand the world around them.

I teach in a high poverty area.

The neighboring school districts are wealthy. It can be a challenge to fund learning materials.

My Project

Scholastic News provides students with an with an opportunity to read non-fiction texts in the areas of science and social studies. Each weekly reader helps students build stronger reading and vocabulary skills.

Scholastic News helps students to become motivated readers by providing each issue with interesting texts and pictures.

Not only does each student subscription come with a weekly reader it also comes with full access to on-line resources such as videos and learning games which helps promote active learning. Students can have access to these learning materials from home.
