My Students

PCA is home to roughly 700 students in grades K-8. We are located in the heart of Kent County, Delaware but our students come from all parts of our state and our socio-economic status varies as much.

As much as our students’ demographics vary, so does the weather patterns in Delaware.

Our campus is beautiful but it is wide open. Our students transition between buildings multiple times a day whether for arrival to school, moving between classes or dining area, all the way through to the end of our day at dismissal. Given the size of our campus and the distance between our buildings and transportation areas, many students are subject to soaked clothing due to lack of umbrellas during our frequent rain storms.

I would like to provide a bulk number of umbrellas for our buildings that house our students classrooms. This would lend protection of our student’s clothing and belongings during transitions between buildings throughout the school day. Umbrellas could be stored at entrances of our buildings for use and returned to the same area for another student to use.

My Project

By providing umbrellas to our students at PCA our student population will be able to remain warm and dry during our rainy seasons here in Delaware as they transition throughout our campus.

This will help foster better coping and learning skills while remaining dry and healthy inside the classroom.

Less time away from the classroom means more time and opportunity to learn. Students must learn to be healthy and must be healthy to learn. A basic supply, such as an umbrella, will help keep our students clean, dry and healthy.
