My Students

I strive to foster independence in my students, which allows them to have a sense of pride and feelings of accomplishment. This encourages problem-solving when my students will be faced with challenges in the future.

I teach in a classroom where half of the day instruction is in English, and half of the day instruction is in Spanish.

I have both native Spanish and native English speakers in my class, as well as students who speak many other languages at home. In our class, my students are becoming readers and writers in both Spanish and English! Our diverse students love to learn!

My Project

Many of our students are experiencing homelessness or temporarily struggling at a point in their lives. These items are ones that have been requested in past years from families in need, so we are replenishing supplies for this upcoming year. Many of the students we taught are still in our school, moving up through the grades and will benefit from these supplies. Students have shown up at lunch with plastic grocery bags, which do the job just fine, but when their peers all have flashy lunchboxes and backpacks, these items can help them fit in. Each day we have a snack time, and many families cannot contribute. These healthy snacks will help keep minds off hunger and focused on learning.
