My students are a wonderful example of the best that Arkansas has to offer. They are energetic, motivated, and excited to learn! Most of the day I teach inclusion classes with Ms. Potter. Serving approximately 150 students, inclusion education is the integration of special needs students with general education students. One hour a day I teach Algebra II to an extraordinary group of juniors. These students come from a variety of cultural, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds. Our school is mostly low income with students from all around the world making 39% of our students English Language Learners as well. We have been named the most diverse school in the state of Arkansas.
My dream for my students is to graduate high school so they may pursue what career goals they have.
I hope that their time in my classroom instills a positive work-ethic and a belief that anyone can be a "math person."
My Project
As we go into this cold and flu season, illness will hit our classroom hard. Many students will be absent causing them to miss instruction due to being home fighting illness. When students are absent for long periods of time, it becomes difficult for them to catch up. These students will often return frustrated and lose interest. In an effort to prevent illness-related absences, we would like to provide our classroom materials to combat germs.
These items will be a great aid in preventing highly contagious illnesses like the flu and help retain students during this season of germs.
Your donation will go to buy tissues, hand sanitizer, band-aids, and cleaning wipes. Students will have the materials they need to help combat germs in the classroom and stay healthy!
