My students are diverse. They come from many different backgrounds. This neighborhood has many new immigrants. Our students vary from regular education kids to mainstream kids as well as 12:1 kids.
Our schools motto is "Committed to Excellence." We strive to give our students the best resources we can.
Many of them need hands-on materials and manipulatives so that they can "see" what is happening. Most days we break up into small groups to do mini lessons to review or strengthen concepts.
Our goal is to try our best to help the kids meet their goals!
My Project
Students stay in school for about 6 hours a day. Some students don't like the school lunch, so they spend their whole school day without eating. When this happens, students have difficulty focusing and completing their work. I want to have the opportunity to provide snacks for students who need them or even for students who just need a little boost!
Also, the 5th grade curriculum is nutrition.
These snacks will be used in the curriculum for nutrition facts, reading food labels, and other projects. They can even compare the nutrition between healthy and not so healthy snacks too! I think the students would love it!
