Teaching high school is never boring. Knowing my students has made me a better person because they challenge me daily. My students are authentic and know when other people are authentic. They make me laugh. They come from all different background, races, religions.
They have different dreams and hopes.
Some of my students will be the first in their family to graduate from high school. Some of my students will be the first generation to attend college. Other students will be attending Ivy League schools. Preparing them to be ready for whatever they want to do after school is my goal.
My Project
Teenagers are always hungry and hunger can distract their focus from learning. Many of my students attend both before and after school tutoring to improve their math skills and need a little extra food for brain food.
Teenage hunger at school is an issue for all of our students, regardless of income.
I want to be able to provide healthy snacks so they can focus on their learning. In addition, having snacks adds an element of fun and satisfaction to a group of teenage students.
I have a special tutoring session to prepare students for the state assessment in the spring. I would love to offer a study club environment that provides snacks.
